Chapter 830: He Won't Survive Tonight Wesley Montague was silent for a moment, lowering his voice, "No, I'm not leaving Ashbury. That man you mentioned, along with the government, is undoubtedly searching foracross the city. Finda secluded place in Ashbury, prepare a month's worth of water and food, and I'll hide there." "When the restrictions on movement ease up, you can helpleave." Johnson hadn't expected such a calculated response from the contact he'd barely activated after years of silence. Wesley Montague wasn't just cautious-he was clever.
But now wasn't the tto argue. With a deep breath, Johnson sighed and said, "Fine. Just make sure you're not caught by Tina and her people. And letremind you-if you betray us, the Bailey family won't spare a single person you care about." The next day.
Tina woke up after a good night's sleep. When she heard about Wesley Montague's escape, her expression remained unchanged.
She had already anticipated this outcome. "This Wesley Montague... He was involved in the Dyer family's case last time. He's likely the Bailey family's informant planted in the police force all along." From the front seat, Courtney raised her voice. "Tina, isn't it better if we can't find him?" Hayden's voice cthrough the speaker, incredulous. "What do you mean it's better if we can't find him? Courtney, did you not sleep enough? If we don't find him, how are we supposed to investigate the Bailey family?" Courtney pursed her lips in frustration. She turned her gaze forward, massaging her temples, clearly unwilling to argue with Hayden.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtEven from the back seat, Tina could sense Courtney's irritation. Tina herself wasn't much better off. "If we can't find Wesley Montague, we can just say whatever we want. Claim he's working for whoever we decide. Where's your brain, Hayden?" Hayden was stunned. "We can do that?! Serena, won't we get complaints for making baseless accusations?" "Bailey family wouldn't dare," Jared interjected, clearly fed up with Hayden's occasional lapses in logic. Hayden finally understood. "Ah, so we're just looking for an excuse to go after the Bailey family. Mr. Farrell, you... No, Courtney, you could've just said that earlier instead of talking in riddles so early in the morning!" After a pause, Hayden added, "Besides, don't we already have enough evidence? Why bother going to such lengths to justify our actions?" Tina shot him a withering look. "You can shut up now." "Got it!" Hayden mimicked zipping his lips.
Soon, the car pulled up outside the courthouse.
Tina and Jared stepped out, followed by Courtney, Hayden, Nathan, and the others.
Not far ahead, Luke Gill appeared, flanked by his lawyer, dressed sharply in a suit.
Luke Gill seemed eager to hurl a sarcastic jab at Tina, but she ignored him entirely, striding inside without sparing him a glance.
Left behind, Luke's face turned an unsettling mixture of green and purple.
Inside, Orson was already seated among the jury. The Bailey family also had a significant presence in the room- Victor, Ella Bailey, Kelly, and even Kylie Lambert, who lingered in a quiet corner. Tina's gaze swept across the room, her eyes narrowing slightly before a faint smile curved her lips.
She leaned toward Jared. "It seems they've decided Luke Gill is expendable." Jared surveyed the room with a calm expression. "Let's wait and see. Luke Gill is more valuable than Victor. They might abandon Victor, but they're less likely to give up on Luke Gill." Tina hummed in agreement, glancing at Victor in the distance. Her tone was casual, yet cold. "It's surprising that Victor's still alive. No one's gone after him yet-it's peculiar." Jared also glanced at Victor, his face impassive. "He won't survive tonight." Tina raised an eyebrow at him.
Jared explained, "I've received word that someone's already en route to the Bailey family's estate." Tina chuckled. "I wonder how much Victor is willing to pay to save his own life." Jared smirked. "Tina, you've grown ruthless." Victor had to die-but not at the hands of someone else, and not by Jared's hand either.
That's why Tina had arranged for Victor to be protected. She intended to keep his life in her hands. As for how Victor would ultimately meet his end, that would depend on her mood. Tina smiled but said nothing.

The lawyers began presenting their cases.
Dexter, representing the plaintiff, started first: "The Dyer family incident ten years ago was never thoroughly investigated. Over the past decade, my client has tirelessly worked to gather evidence."
He handed the documents in his hand to the judge. "As the appeal documents show, the formula created by the Dyer family back then was never harmful. Yet, the alleged V victims at the tinsisted otherwise, even providing testimony from Luke Gill. We have reason to believe Luke Gill colluded with external forces to frthe Dyer family."
Luke Gill's lawyer, whom Tina had investigated beforehand, was known for his expertise in similar cases. He remained composed throughout Dexter's accusations. Only after Dexter finished did he finally speak, his tone calm and measured. "I object! Your Honor, it's been ten years. The original formula was destroyed long ago. How can the plaintiff prove the authenticity of their evidence?" He clapped his hands. "Furthermore, we have a witness who was part of the research team at the time. He worked side by side with my client to expose the Dyer family's actions." The courtroom doors opened.
All eyes turned to see an older man in his fifties or sixties being escorted in by police. His disheveled appearance, unkempt beard, and silver handcuffs made him look utterly defeated. Elsa gasped in recognition. "Uncle Van?!"
She cried out, prompting Luke Gill's lawyer to seize the opportunity. "It seems Mrs. Dyer recognizes him in that case, we won't have to worry En about the plaintiff denying his identity." Dexter narrowed his eyes. "Do you think everyone operates the way you do?" As David Van was brought to the witness stand, Tina turned to Elsa, whose face was filled with a mix of guilt and sorrow. "Elsa, is this man truly one of the researchers from back then?" Elsa nodded, her gaze fixed on David Van with a hint of nostalgia. "He was one of the lead researchers on that project and a close friend of my father's from university. They had always been very close." "After the scandal, I tried to find him to testify on my father's behalf, to prove his innocence. But I could never locate him. It wasn't until later that I found out he had turned himself in after our family went bankrupt." "If he reported the crimes, why would he turn himself in?" Dexter asked, listening to both David Van's testimony and Elsa's words.
Jared's voice was icy. "Maybe he was afraid of dying."
