Chapter 260 Austin decided to drop the matter.

Austin chuckled and shook his head. "I don't feel comfortable letting you go out alone. The Yates family is still keeping an eye on you. You never know what they might try." Suzanne propped her head on one hand and watched Austin through the screen, her voice soft. "Honestly, the Yates family can't do anything to hurt me." She understood Austin's concern, which was why she hadn't refused Roselynn's presence.

Austin's expression turned serious. "If Henry ever lays a hand on you, the Yates family won't exist anymore." Anything Suzanne wanted, he could retrieve for her with just a word. But she preferred to take things step by step, so he followed her pace with patience. Seeing his unwavering confidence, Suzanne smiled. "I know." Being protected like this wasn't a bad feeling.

Her words softened something inside him. Austin's gaze deepened as he murmured, "I wouldn't mind if you relied ona little more." Caught off guard, Suzanne straightened her posture and looked away as she whispered, "I'm going to take a shower. You should finish your work and get srest." Austin sighed lightly, recognizing her reserved nature. He didn't push further. "Alright, go ahead." Just before hanging up, Suzanne hesitated and then softly said, "Good night, Austin." The corners of Austin's lips lifted. There was warmth in his eyes, but before he could reply, the call ended. Suzanne stared at the darkened screen, exhaling slowly. His words about relying on him echoed in her mind. Smiling faintly, she flipped her phone face-down on the jewelry counter and took her clothes to the bathroom. Things were different now. She wasn't alone anymore. Yet rather than feeling uneasy, she found herself willing to lean on Austin.

Austin-tall and well-built, fresh from the shower, and wrapped only in a towel. She couldn't forget the sight, especially his chiseled chest and abs.

Snapping out of it, Suzanne quickly patted her face, scolding herself. What was she thinking? She had teased her friends before for swooning over a man's physique! Her face turned red at an almost imperceptible speed. Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to focus and went to bed.

She tossed and turned for a while before finally drifting off.

The weekend passed peacefully, and soon, it was Monday. The sky was clear as the first rays of sunlight bathed Starview Villa. Suzanne had already risen and was stretching on the balcony.

Taking in deep breaths, she felt instantly refreshed.

After washing up, she was about to head downstairs when her phone rang.

Turning back, she grabbed it from the bedside table.

Seeing the caller ID, her brows lifted slightly. "Mr. Stevens?"

Joe's anxious voice cthrough. "Dr. Smith, Mr. Alvarez's condition seems to be relapsing. Could you En ctake a look?"

Suzanne frowned slightly. Alan's illness was acting up again? While puzzled, she responded without hesitation, "I'll be right there."

Joe paused for a moment, surprised at her quick agreement. Then hen respectfully added, Dr. Smith, Mr. Alvarez is in the office. Could you chere instead?" He instinctively glanced at Alan, meeting his cold gaze. He quickly looked away.

Just then, he heard Suzanne's calm voice on the line. "Alright." After hanging up, she got ready and headed downstairs.

In the living room, Roselynn was already dressed. Her eyes were gleaming as she asked, "Mrs. Hall, do you needto accompany you today?"
