Chapter 248 Todd straightened his back, his eyes widening in disbelief as he looked at Frankie. "Really?" He didn't dare lower his head to check as his neck was covered in silver needles. Even the slightest movement would send pain shooting through his meridians. Frankie, visibly excited, nodded quickly. "Yes, really! The color has faded a lot." Turning to Suzanne, his eyes glistened with gratitude. "Dr. Smith, you're truly a miracle doctor! This is incredible!" He had harbored sdoubts. After all, she was so young. But now, it was clear that the rumors of Jane's skill were not unfounded.
Suzanne didn't acknowledge his praise. She simply stood up, walked to the bathroom to wash her hands, and took an extra moment to disinfect them before returning to her seat beside Shane.
"That's it for today's treatment. But don't touch the needles. I'll remove them when it's time." Todd's joy immediately turned into distress. "Wait, I have to stay like this?" Wasn't this just like being comatose? At least someone in a comatose didn't feel pain, but with these needles, even the slightest touch would send him spiraling in agony.
A thought struck him, and he looked at Suzanne, asking hesitantly, "Then, how am I supposed to sleep tonight?" Unfazed, Suzanne replied in a calm, indifferent tone, "Sit." Shane couldn't hold it in and burst into laughter.

Suzanne shot him a cold look. "What? You find my medical skills amusing?" Couldn't he at least try to keep a straight face? If these two caught on that she was doing this on purpose, they might not be so cooperative about continuing the treatment.
Realizing his mistake, Shane immediately shook his head obediently. "No, no, I just had an itchy nose." Frankie and Todd had been skeptical, but seeing Shane's fear of this masked doctor, all their doubts vanished. Everyone in their circles knew Shane had never gone easy on anyone. The only person who could make him back down was the renowned Jane Smith.
The thought of not being able to sleep lying down that night made Todd's face turn pale. At that moment, it felt like his entire world had drained of color, fading into black and white.
Suzanne's gaze swept over Frankie and Todd, her tone casual but probing. "His condition is quite severe. How did he contract this illness?" Shane's interest piqued instantly.
Of course, Suzanne knew the answer better than anyone, but she was asking anyway. Her intentions were obvious.
Frankie's and Todd's expressions darkened with rage. They had nowhere to vent the anger that had been simmering inside them.
They had been caught off guard by the question and were unguarded in front of Jane. Without thinking, they spilled everything about the Yates family and Suzanne.
The more Shane listened, the angrier he became.
He had originally assumed this matter was solely the Lloyds' doing, but now, he realized Henry had played a role as well. He turned to Suzanne, his gaze filled with distress for her.

She looked at Frankie, her expression puzzled. "The Suzanne you're talking about... She's merely a weak w woman, right? Seems unlikely she'd have the guts to schagainst you. But the Yates family..." She trailed off deliberately.
Her hesitation immediately aroused Frankie's curiosity. "Dr. Smith, what about the Yates family?"
Suzanne frowned slightly. "I've heard sthings about them—not good things." Frankie and Todd. exchanged ve aglance Frankie, as if finally finding someone who understood, leaned forward eagerly. "What do you mean?"
Suzanne crossed her legs, tapping a finger lightly on her knee. "A few business partners have worked with them before, but every deal fell apart in the end. Those partners ended up losing a lot of money while the Yates family cout unscathed. Later, it turned out the Yates family had orchestrated the whole thing." Frankie's brows furrowed together.
What she described sounded exactly like what had happened with his own deal with the Yates family.
They had lost nothing while he had thrown his own son into this mess. Todd was left with nothing but this wretched illness.
