Chapter 260

The Walsh family was one of those well-respected, intellectual clans in Oak Lake that everyone seemed to know

about. The head of the family was a celebrated professor at Lakeside College's School of Humanities, while his

wife had made her nas a famous essayist. They had one son working for the government and a daughter-in-

law who was a celebrated ist and active member of the National Writers' Association. Their granddaughter,

Faith, had graduated both her undergrad and master's from the best university in the country, Cambridge.

The Walsh family matriarch and Grandma Emily from the Fisher family had known each other for quite a while,

and because of the Walsh son's job, their families mingled often.

Earlier this year, the Walsh matriarch hosted Grandma Emily for a luncheon to enjoy the winter blooms. Faith left

quite an impression on Grandma Emily with her elegance and charm.

After that meeting, Grandma Emily started thinking about setting her grandson, Joshua, up with Faith. Unlike the

flashy Owens family, Grandma Emily valued the intellectual pedigree of the Walsh family over sheer wealth.

When she brought up the idea with the Walsh matriarch, they were both on the spage. With only one son in

a public service career, the Walsh matriarch saw a potential alliance with the Fisher family as a good move for

her son's future.

Joshua, however, wasn't keen on visiting the Walsh family, so Grandma Emily turned the tables and invited them

over instead. She kept her plans under wraps, simply telling Joshua they were having a family dinner on January

6th, something normal for them since Fisher Corporation geared up for reopening on the 8th.

Joshua, not suspecting a thing, chand immediately noticed the lively chatter in the living room.

Handing his coat to the housekeeper, he asked, "Hey, do we have guests today?" The housekeeper smiled, "Yep,

Joshua, the Walsh family's here for a New Year visit."

Joshua raised an eyebrow, "The Walsh family? Which one?"

She clarified, "The sfamily Mrs. Fisher had you and your mom visit last time. Their granddaughter's here

too."

That clicked for Joshua. The so-called family dinner was just a setup for a blind date orchestrated by his

grandma.

Just then, Lillian saw Joshua and

hurried over, looking a bit franticnet

"Hey, the Walsh sister's here. It's a matchmaking thing. You might wanna think of an excuse to bail."

"Joshua, you're back?" Grandma Emily called out, making Lillian freeze in her tracks.

With Faith by her side, Grandma Emily approached with a warm smile. "Joshua, finally! We've been waiting for

you."

Joshua gave Faith a quick glance,

his voice nonchalant, "Sorry, Grandma, but there's an urgent

project at work | have to deal with. I'll skip dinner and just grab sfiles from Dad's study."

"But it's only the sixth, and the company isn't open yet," Grandma Emily replied, her eyes sharp yet calm. "As a

board director and part of the shareholders’ meeting, I'a know if there were any urgent projects. Why am |

unaware of this so-called emergency?"
