Relatives gathered at the house to celebrate the New Year, and Allison found herself in the living room,

entertaining guests and chatting with the older folks.

In the midst of their conversation, a curly-haired aunt suddenly turned to Javier and asked, "Hey, what happened

with the engagement to the Fisher family?"

Allison lowered her eyes, letting out a silent sigh. Sthings, she thought, were just inevitable.

Javier kept his cool. "The kids didn't see eye to eye, so we called it off."

Javier responded, "Not sure. He and Allie ended things, so whatever he does now is his business."

The curly-haired aunt chimed in again, "Did the Fisher boy cheat on Allie while they were still together? Those

privileged kids often play around with celebrities and models."

Linda quickly changed the subject, "Your purse is gorgeous! | saw it in a magazine; it's a holiday special, right?"

The aunt beamed, shifting her attention to her designer bag. "Yes, it is! | fell in love with it at first sight. Isn't it

stunning?"

Linda smiled, "Absolutely! | wanted one myself."

"I think it's sold out here. | just got mine yesterday. If you want, | can try to find another for you."

Linda laughed, "That would be great, thank you."

Just when it seemed like the topic had shifted, the aunt's curiosity brought it right back.

"Where were we?" she asked eagerly. "Oh right, did Allie find out the Fisher boy was fooling around, and that's

why the engagement was called off?"

Linda was about to respond, but Allison beat her to it, "No, Auntie. We just grew apart. After we broke up, he

found someone else. It wasn't about cheating."

Clearly, this wasn't the juicy tidbit the aunt was hoping for. A plain breakup lacked the of a scandal.

The aunt pressed on, "How does a relationship just end like that? Weren't you planning to reschedule the

engagement after that initial hiccup? What happened?"

Allison frowned at his words, reflecting an outdated mindset where convenience trumped happiness.

"I don't like what I'm hearing," Javier said firmly. "Others might chase after the Fisher family for their

power, but the Owens family doesn't need to. Allie is our treasure, and | won't see her settle for less."

Joshua stand by you when you had that argument with his grandmother? He seemed truly devoted to you. How

could things fall apart so quickly?"
