Chapter 256
Joshua let out a sarcastic laugh, a flicker of loneliness in his eyes. "Causing trouble? You're overthinking it. |
haven't talked to her in ages."
Grandma Emily's voice was firm and unyielding. "Well, you should just go on that blind date like a good boy."
Joshua turned away, sauntering upstairs with a relaxed pace, tossing back a casual, "Not going."
"You're getting more and more insolent!" Grandma Emily shouted at his retreating back, frustration evident in
her tone.
Lillian gently rubbed the old lady's back to calm her down. "Grandma, don't let it get to you."
The elderly woman took a deep breath and sighed, "Lillian, just look at your brother now. He talks towithout
any respect. He was never like this before."
Lillian chimed in with a sweet tone, "Yeah, ever since he started seeing Allison, he's completely changed. He

"Do you think Allison's causing this?" Grandma Emily asked.
"Absolutely, Grandma. Every tAllison's involved, he acts totally different. | can't think of any other reason
except Allison driving a wedge between you two."
"Let's not jump to conclusions, sweet Lillian," Megan interjected, cracking open a sunflower seed leisurely. "Did
you sneak under their bed and hear Allison causing trouble?"
Lillian shot Megan a sharp look, her expression sour. "No, but..."
Megan cut her off, "Did Allison whisper anything directly to you to bring about trouble?"
Lillian's face darkened, "No."
"Well then," Megan chuckled. "Isn't that curious? You haven't heard anything directly, yet you're claiming
Allison's causing trouble. Seems like you're the one stirring the pot."
Megan, hailing from the prestigious Fisher family, was a bona fide heiress and a top-tier celebrity. Others might
be intimidated by the Fisher family's influence and handle their adopted daughter, Lillian, with kid gloves, but
Megan was unfazed.
To Megan Lillian was just a nuisance. She never liked her,
always finding her too sneaky. Back in their teenage years, Lillian would pull little stunts to grab Joshua's
attention.
Boys at that age were clueless, and Joshua never noticed, but Megan always saw
through Lillian's tricks, branding her a "sly fox" early on.
Now, it was clear: the label fit perfectly.
Lillian truly was a master manipulator.

Megan's hostility was blatant, and Lillian couldn't keep her act up any longer. She
glared at Megan and demanded, "What's your problem?"
Megan replied with a sugary smile, "Just what I said, darling."
Lillian was about to lose it but remembered the old lady sitting beside her. She quickly switched tactics, putting
on a pitiful look and softening her voice, "Cousin, have | done something to upset you?"
"Yes, are you blind? Can't you see that?" Megan rolled her eyes. "I absolutely
can't stand sneaky people."
"Cousin, what did | do to offend you? Why are you so hostile?"
Megan chuckled, "Not only blind but deaf too, are we?"
Raising her voice, Megan clearly enunciated, "I said, I, absolutely, despise, sneaky, people!"
With that, Megan beamed brightly, deliberately raising her voice in a teasing tone. "Did you catch that, hun?"
