Chapter 250

Mills shook his head with a sigh. It was clear now-his buddy was hopelessly in love, head over heels and beyond

saving.

Joshua had been the object of countless crushes since childhood, with admirers as persistent as Sue. Yet, with his

frosty exterior, he never seemed to care for any of them.

Mills used to think Joshua just wasn't into women. But that changed when he spotted Allison's photo at Joshua's

place. Turns out, Joshua wasn't indifferent; he had always carried a torch for someone.

For her, he turned everyone else away.

After dinner, Eric was thoroughly plastered, and the restaurant manager had

already called a ride for him. Eric was the first to head out.

Outside the restaurant, Pierce said his goodbyes to Joshua and Mills, "Mr. Fisher, Mills, we'll be off now."

Joshua stayed silent.

Picking up on Joshua's unspoken worries, Mills stepped in, "Are you guys catching a cab?"

Pierce responded, "Yeah, Ms. Allison and | are here on a business trip. We are staying at a hotel."

Joshua's brow twitched slightly at that.

Mills knew Joshua wasn't thrilled about Allison heading back with a middle-aged guy who'd been drinking, so he

quickly offered, "I can give Ms. Allison a lift. | haven't had a drop, so I can drive."

Pierce checked his phone's ride confirmation, thinking: Why didn't you speak up sooner?

Since the ride was already booked, he couldn't exactly cancel it just to bum a ride with Mills, so he said, "That'd

be great, Mills."

Allison, however, shook her head, "It's okay. I'll just call a cab."

She pulled out her phone to order a ride.

With a playful grin, Mills asked, “Ms. Allison, do you not trust my driving?"

Allison glanced quickly at Joshua before looking back at Mills, politely saying, "Mills, you know that's not what |

meant."

Mills chuckled, "Then letdrive you. I'm headed that way anyway."

Pierce listened, suppressing a smile. Headed that way? He hadn't mentioned which hotel they

staying at-how could Mills know if it was on the way?

Could it be that Mills had a thing for Allison and was using this as a chance to impress her?

Pierce's gaze darted between Allison and Mills, eyes twinkling with curiosity.

Allison looked at Joshua, about to refuse again, when Joshua suddenly spoke up, "You take her hfirst. I've got

to head over to Megan's; she's been bugging me."

That was like a bucket of cold water, leaving Allison feeling chilled to the core.

Mills gave Joshua a knowing look. "Then you better get going."

Joshua just nodded, turned on his heel, and headed towards the black Maybach without another glance in

Allison's direction.

Allison watched him walk away, feeling a mix of heartache and longing. It was clear-she couldn't act like she

didn't care.

Joshua, what gare you playing?

She had been trying hard to forget him, to stop thinking about him. He just kept showing up, doing things that

made her second guess everything-inviting her to dinner, ordering her favorite dishes, bis eyes always drifting

back to her, only to flaunt his affection for Megan right afterward.

What did he think she was? A plaything?

"Ms. Allison, let me..."

"I said | don't need it!" Allison snapped, cutting Mills off, her voice sharp and ready for a confrontation.

Mills blinked, awkwardly rubbing his nose, "Alright then, you can catch a cab yourself."

Well, well, this lady who seemed so gentle and composed sure had a fiery side.

Joshua, oh Joshua, you've stirred the pot good luck smoothing things over with her now.
