Chapter 246

From that moment on, Chris was all about getting back at the Fisher family.

Mills raised an eyebrow, "Did Chris cafter her again?"

Joshua's eyes turned icy as he explained how Chris had hired people to chase him and Allison, and how Javier

was pushed down the stairs.

Mills looked shocked. "Heavy weapons? How does Chris have the guts?"

"He's covered his tracks well. The cops can't pin it on him."

"You'd better watch your back. Chris can do anything."

"I'm on it."

Mills sighed, giving Joshua's shoulder a reassuring pat. "Breaking up was the right call, but it's rough on both of

you, being in love but kept apart."

Joshua lowered his gaze, his heart in agony.

Kept apart? No way. This was just a bump in the road. Once he sorted things out with Chris, he'd win Allison

back.

Meanwhile, Eric sidled over to Allison, “Ms. Allison, are you into golf?"

Allison scooted a bit away from Eric, replying politely, "A little, but I don't play much."

Eric was clueless about Allison's background. He thought she was just a regular lawyer scraping by on a modest

paycheck. To him, that kind of money wouldn't even cover a fancy dinner.

Eric smirked with a hint of superiority. "Sure, getting a basic set of clubs could eat up a month's salary, not to

mention course fees and a@oach. Membership here costs over three hundred grand a year. You lawyers work too

hard to splurge on that."

Eric's patronizing tone wad hard to miss, but Allison replied with a bright smile. "You're right."

Her dazzling smile made Eric's heart race, nearly losing his cool. He was used to throwing his money around and

never lacked female attention. Despite a wife at home, he had plenty of side flings, having hooked up with

several young women over the years.

Feeling cocky, Eric suggested, "Ms. Allison, how about | get you a membership? You could joinfor a game

whenever you're free."

Allison snortedinwardly. She saw right through Eric's sleazy intentions. It was more than just golf he was after.

Did he really think he could buy her attention for a mere three hundred grand?

Keeping her disdain hidden, she smiled slightly, "Sorry, Eric, I'm busy most days, but I'm happy to hang out

today."

Nearby, Pierce was frantically signaling to Allison, wondering why she'd turn down such an offer. Allison

pretended not to notice.

Eric took the rejection in stride. He thought Allison was just playing hard to get. He assumed he knewe her type

aloof at first, pretending not to be interested in his money, and setting the stage to reel him in. He saw them as

mere gold diggers.

But to him, what they wanted wasn't much. Allison was a rare beauty, far more stunning than any social media

star or minor celeb he'd been with. If he could win her over, no price was too steep.

Determined, Eric kept his cool smile. "No worries, | know you lawyers are busy. We can plan for another time.

Let's just enjoy today."

Allison grinned, "Sounds good, Eric."

Eric, enchanted by her smile, blurted out, "How about a bet? If you can land a ball on the green in ten strokes, I'll

give you ten grand. For each stroke under, another ten grand."

Allison playfully replied, "And if | miss? What if | can't make it in ten strokes?"

Eric beamed, "Then maybe you'd joinfor dinner tonight? Just the two of us."
