Chapter 245

Allison walked past them with a frosty look, choosing not to engage in any conversation.

Once she was out of earshot, Megan gave Joshua a playful nudge. "Hey, isn't it wild that she is on the sflight

as us?"

Joshua kept his gaze lowered, not saying a word.

"Wow, you look like you're carrying the weight of the world, huh? Must be tough."

Bright and early the next day, Allison and Pierce made their way to the golf course. Allison was sporting a white

athletic outfit, her hair swept up in a high ponytail, radiating youthful energy. Eric's eyes lit up the moment he

saw her.

Pierce introduced them, "This is Eric from Infinique Ventures. Eric, meet Ms. Allison from our firm."

Allison flashed a warm smile. "Hello."

Her easy smile made Eric's heart skip a beat. He chuckled, "I wasn't expecting

such a young and beautiful lawyer from your firm."

Allison just smiled, letting Pierce take over the conversation.

"Do you play golf often, Ms. Allison?" Eric asked.

Allison shook her head, "I know a bit, but | wouldn't say I'm a fan."

Eric, sensing an opening, grinned wider, "No worries, | can show you the ropes."

"What's got you all chatting so happily?"

A voice cut through the conversation.

Allison froze for a moment.

Joshua approached, with someone tagging along.

Eric immediately shifted gears, adopting a respectful tone, "Mr. Fisher, are you here for a round as well? We were

just discussing hobbies, got a bit carried away with laughter. Hope we didn't bother you."

Allison's hand clenched at her side as she met Joshua's eyes, offering a polite, "Hello Mr. Fisher."

Pierce wasn't clued into the latest gossip about Megan and Joshua, so he didn't realize Joshua was Allison's ex.

Even though Pierce wasn't used to interacting with folks at Joshua's level, he quickly picked up on Eric's

deference and followed suit, greeting him, "Hello, Mr. Fisher."

Joshua's gaze lingered on Allison. With her makeup on and her high ponytail, she looked hard to miss. No wonder

that old guy kept staring at her.

His eyes drifted down to her long, slender legs beneath her short skirt, a slight frown forming.

She's dressed so attractively and hanging out with two older men, which stirred a wave of irritation in him. He

almost acted on the urge to wrap his jacket around her waist and send the two men packing

Barely managing to keep his frustration and displeasure in check, Joshua's expression remained neutral as he

curtly said, "Quite the disturbance."

Eric nodded apologetically, "Terribly sorry, Mr. Fisher, I'll be more mindful."

"Yeah, okay." Joshua tossed out these words and walked away.

He was here to meet a friend who'd just returned from Australia.

His friend, Mills, had been a huge help in securing the Chris project.

Once they were far enough away, Mills, who had been quiet up unti now, finally spoke up, curiosity piqued,

"Joshua, wasn't that your fiancee back there? You both acted like you didn't know each other."

Mills had moved to America over a decade ago. He didn't know Allison but had

seen her photo at Joshua's place back then.

Joshua had once confessed she was the girl he'd been secretly in love with.

Mills even cback hjust to attend Joshua and Allison's engagement party, congratulating him for finally

being with the girl he'd long admired.

"We broke up."

"What?" Mills was taken aback, “How did that happen? You waited so many years for this."

A caddy handed Joshua a club.

Joshua took it, swinging it effortlessly before explaining, "I didn't want her caught

up in the chaos. Being withnearly cost her life."

Mills got it. During the engagement

party, Allison's sister was kidnapped, Joshua was badly hurt, and the

whole thing had to be called off

Later, was revealed that the Fisher

family's adopted daughter had

orchestrated the whole mess with Chris pulling strings behind the scenes.
