Chapter 237
Brian swung open the passenger door of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and collapsed into the seat. "Hey man,
everything you asked for is sorted. She took the bags and the car."
Joshua's long fingers rested on the steering wheel, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly. "Did she suspect
anything?"
Brian replied honestly, "A bit. She asked if you bought the car, but | teamed up with Sabrina to brush it off. She
trusts Sabrina, so she probably won't overthink it."
Joshua let out a heavy "Mmm."
For a moment, Brian was at a loss for words. Joshua stared blankly into space, the car so silent you could clearly
hear the heater humming.
Brian knew he was deep in thought about Allison again, so he wisely kept quiet not to disturb him.

After a while, Joshua finally spoke, "I miss her so much."
"Hang on," Brian said, pulling out his phone. "Letfigure something out for you, buddy."
Brian dialed Sabrina's number. "Hey, Sabrina. When | dropped off the car for Allison earlier, she seemed really
down, like a wilted flower. She's probably still upset. I'm worried she'll make herself sick bottling it all up.
Tomorrow's Saturday and she's off work. How about you take her out tonight and lift her spirits?"
Sabrina's voice cthrough the phone, full of reproach. "Ugh, Allie loves Joshua so much. How could she get
over the breakup so quickly? Why is she suffering while Joshua just moves on and is seen around with that girl?
You guys can be such heartless jerks!"
Brian instinctively glanced at Joshua. Lately, he had visibly lost weight. There were faint dark circles under his
eyes, proof of many sleepless nights.
Brian knew how deeply Joshua loved Allison. As Joshua's best friend for years, he had never seen him care so
much about a girl. Normally composed and self- controlled, Joshua was nearly depressed over the breakup.
He's clearly a romantic at heart, but forced to bear the labels of "heartbreaker" and "jerk." Even Brian, as a
bystander, found it hard to watch.
Brian exchanged a few more words with Sabrina, who agreed to take Allison out for drinks. Feigning innocence,
Brian asked, "Which bar are you heading to? I'll cpick you up later."
Sabrina easily took the bait and mentioned the nof a bar.
"Alright, you take good care of Allie tonight. I'll pick you up later. Don't drink too much, or you'll end up with
another headache and stomachache."
"Yeah, yeah, | know, stop nagging."
After hanging up, Brian shrugged. "Done deal. We'll head to 'The Nightfall' bar in twenty minutes."
Allison hadn't planned anything for the evening. She was just going to have dinner, cozy up at hwith some
shows, and then hit the sack.

But not long after dinner, she got a call from Sabrina, inviting her out for drinks.
During the day, Allison buried herself in work, trying to stay busy so she wouldn't have tto think about
Joshua. As soon as night fell, the longing grew, suffocating her with its intensity.
A breakup felt like a serious illness, one that couldn't be cured with medicine, only
numbed with alcohol.
Allison needed to vent her emotions.
Her white McLaren glided through the winter night fog, like a ghost.
Luxury cars filled the outdoor
parking lot of The Nightfall Bar.
Allison tossed her car keys to the valet and, in her soft leather high heels, climbed the steps and walked into the
bar.
