Chapter 188
Emily's voice cut through the air, sharp with irritation, "I'm still talking to you, and you're already off chatting
with someone else? Do you even have any respect for your elders?"
Allison took a deep breath, her gaze low before she looked up with determination. "Grandma Emily, I'm not sure
what I've done to upset you, but ifbeing here bothers you so much, maybe | should just leave?"
Without waiting for an answer, Allison took the little girl's hand and started to walk
away.
Joshua shot a meaningful look at Lillian, his expression turning cold. "If | find out you've been stirring things up
with Grandma, there'll be consequences."
Lillian put on a face of injured innocence. "Joshua, I didn't do anything."
Emily glared at Joshua. "This has nothing to do with Lillian. Did you see how Allison spoke to me? And you expect
Joshua chuckled dryly. "Whether you like her or not doesn't matter; she's not marrying you."
Knowing that trying to reason with Emily was pointless, Joshua chose to remain silent.

"You..." Emily was fuming, her breath coming in harsh bursts. "Is this how you speak to your grandmother?"
Joshua ignored her and walked away.
Emily was left seething, and her breathing was ragged.
"Grandma, take it easy." Lillian tried to calm her down. "Don't argue with Joshua; it's all Allison's fault. She's got
him under her spell, and she's not right for him."
Emily worked to steady herself and after a pause, said, "You're right. She isn't fit for Joshua."
A sly smile flitted across Lillian's lips.
Allison spent stplaying with the little girl until her mother cover.
"Ms. Allison, I'm so sorry for the disturbance. Kids can be such a handful," the woman apologized warmly and
politely.
Allison gave a gentle smile. "It's no trouble. She's a sweet and adorable girl."
The little girl looked up at her with wide eyes. "Mommy, the

slady is so pretty.
Her mom hesitated, then looked at Allison. "Would that be alright?"
Allison nodded happily. "Of course, it is."
After snapping the photo, the little girl waved goodbye to Allison.
Allison waved back, her smile bright.
Joshua walked over. "Allie, I'm sorry."
Allison brushed it off with a smile. "It's not your fault. Why are you apologizing?"
"I don't know why Grandma's acting
this way. She wasn't like this before." Joshua Squeezed her hand. "If we can't resolve this, we'll just visit her less
often. You shouldn't have to put up with it."
Allison met his eyes. "What if she says no to our marriage?"
Joshua replied, "It's my decision. Her opposition won't change that."

Allison nodded, "That's all | needed to hear."
She spotted her friends in the crowd and said, "I'm going to catch up with Olivia
and Sabrina. See you later."
Joshua felt a pang of being left behind but kept it to himself.
In his usual calm tone, he said, "Alright, go on."
Allison headed towards Olivia.
Out of nowhere, Lillian appeared, bumping into Allison. Her wine glass slipped, splashing red wine all over
Allison's dress.
Lillian tically covered her mouth, eyes wide with feigned
surprise. "Oh no, Allison, werend net
