Chapter 187

"Yep," Lillian chimed in with a voice that was a bit too high-pitched. "She showed

up and didn't even bother to say hello to you first. Instead, she just wandered off to chat with others. What does

that say? She's obviously not giving you the respect you deserve."

Emily was seeing red. "Allison really has no respect for her elders, no manners whatsoever. And to think your

mother always praised her as a well-mannered and cultured girl."

Lillian's lips curled into a sly smile as she spoke softly, "Grandma, don't let her get to you. Your health is what

truly matters."

Emily gently patted Lillian's hand. "Lillian, you are my best granddaughter."

Lillian's smile widened. "Grandma, how about | stay with you forever?"

Emily chuckled, giving her a warm look. "Oh, you silly girl. You'll get married one day. As much as I'd love for you

to stay with me, you have your own life to lead."

"Ill marry Joshua, and then | can stay with you forever,' Lillian thought but kept it to herself.

She just smiled sweetly and teased, "For you, Grandma, | could stay single forever."

That comment made Emily's heart swell with joy, and she laughed out loud. Just then, Joshua and Allison noticed

Emily and wrapped up their conversation to head

over.

"They're on their way," Lillian pointed out.

Emily let out a dismissive sniff. "About time."

Allison, with her arm linked through Joshua's, stopped in front of Emily and greeted her politely, "Mrs. Fisher."

She remembered how Emily had insisted she not call her "Grandma" at their last encounter. But Emily's face

showed no satisfaction, her brows knitting together.

"Why are you so formal? Still holding onto that family dinner mishap? I've already apologized to Joshua. Why are

you still holding a grudge?"

Joshua frowned. "Grandma, didn't you tell Allie not to call you Grandma? She's

just following your wishes. Why are you being so unfair?"

Inside, Allison was amused by Emily's antics. Joshua voiced her thoughts and spoke up for them both so Allison

just offered a slight smile, staying quiet.

Hearing her grandson call her out for being unfair made Emily's temper flare. "How dare you say I'm unfair? I'm

your grandma! Joshua, being around this woman is changing you. Look at how you're dressed. And your attitude

towardsis not how a grandson should behave."

Joshua's expression was equally steely. "Grandma, why do you keep stirring up trouble? You used to be so

reasonable.”

Emily sniffed. "Depends on who I'm dealing with."

Allison's lips curled into a silent, mocking smile. Just then, a little girl ran over and hugged Allison's dress.

"Wow, are you a Disney princess?"

Allison, amused by the little girl, bent down and gently pinched her cheek. "No, I'm

not."

The little girl looked up at Allison with wide, sparkling eyes full of wonder. "Yes,

you are! You're even prettier than the ones I've seen on TV."

The irritation Allison felt from Emily melted away with the child's innocent words.

"Princess, can you play with me?" the little girl asked hopefully.

"Of course," Allison replied in a soft, gentle voice.

"That's not proper behavior!" Emily suddenly snapped.

Nearby guests turned their heads at the outburst.
