Chapter 186
The Cullinan glided up to the entrance, and the security guard waved it through without a second thought. The
top brass had made sure they memorized the license plates of the Fisher, Owens, and Hartley families’
frequently used cars, and Joshua's Cullinan was on that list.
The car cruised effortlessly through the estate and cto a halt right in front of the main castle building. While
other guests had to settle for the underground garage, the Owens, Fisher, and Hartley families got the VIP
treatment, parking right at the castle's doorstep.
As soon as the driver brought the car to a stop, Joshua swung the door open, and there stood the estate's butler,
bowing politely. Joshua offered his hand to Allison, who took it with a graceful smile as she stepped out.
The castle doors stood wide open, with a red carpet rolling out from the entrance, stretching endlessly into the
grand hall. On either side, rows of uniformed servants bowed and greeted in chorus, "Good evening, Sir! Good

With her arm looped through Joshua's, Allison made her way down the red carpet into the castle. The ballroom
on the first floor was a spectacle, designed to rival the opulence of Vienna's Schénbrunn Palace. Lavish
decorations adorned the space, with massive crystal chandeliers overhead and Renaissance frescoes lining the
walls, making guests feel like they had stepped into a royal palace. This ballroom was, without a doubt, as grand,
if not grander, than Schénbrunn's.
Soft music from a live band floated through the hall, as guests mixed, mingled, and clinked glasses. The moment
Allison and Joshua made their entrance, they becthe center of attention.
The crowd instinctively parted to let them through, and the pair walked hand in hand into the ballroom,
embodying the elegance and grace of a royal couple.
Lillian was trying to win over Emily and had donned a gown that clashed with the ballroom's grandeur. There was
no rule demanding a dress code match the event theme, so she hadn't thought much of it until she laid eyes on
Allison and Joshua, who looked every bit the part of royalty. Jealousy gnawed at her.
No matter how carefully the other guests had dressed, none could outshine
Allison and Joshua, including Lillian herself.
Linking arms with Emily, Lillian
watched Allison and Joshua as they
mingled and said with a touch of sarcasm, Grandma, just look at Allison. Remember how you said her outfit last
twas inappropriate and that she should wear a gown? Well, now she's taken it up a notch with that wig. Is
she just doing this to get under your skin?"
Emily had old-fashioned views and traditional ways.

Even though times had changed, Emily's conservative mindset hadn't budged.
Lillian's comments only stoked
Emily's ire. She glared at Allison, who was chatting and laughing nearby, her eyes filled with disdain "She knows |
don't approve, yet here she is flaunting herself beforeand leading Joshua astray. That hair-it's neither here
nor there. Having her as my
granddaughter-in-law brings shame
to the Fisher family!"
"Exactly, Grandma. Joshua never wore outfits like this before; Allison must have put him up to it."
Emily's expression darkened. "I apologized to Joshua last time, and admitted | was wrong at the family dinner.
She shouldn't be coddled. | clearly didn't go far enough with my criticism."
