When Allison finally stirred awake, it was early afternoon, around one o'clock. The space in the bed beside her

She was surprised Joshua was sharing this with her. "That whole mess with Sue ties back to my dad's illegitimate

child," he continued.

Joshua kept his eyes on the screen, his voice steady, as if he were talking about the weather.
