Chapter 170
Allison swung by a local diner for a quick bite before heading back to her apartment complex. As the clock ticked
past ten, she felt the lateness of the hour. She parked her car and hit the elevator button, riding up to her floor.
She unlocked the door with her fingerprint, and just as she was about to step inside her apartment, someone
called out her name.
"Allison."
Shawn stood under the hallway lights, dressed sharply in a charcoal overcoat. His features were striking and
handsome, with a hint of a sly smile.
He definitely knew how to make an entrance.
Allison's brow furrowed at his unexpected appearance. “Shawn, what are you doing here?"
Shawn dodged her question with one of his own. "Where've you been today? Why did you chso late?"
Allison shot him a look. "Why do you care?"
Shawn shrugged casually. “Just looking out for you."

"Save it." She was in no mood for his games and turned to head inside.
"Allison, any idea where Joshua is tonight?"
Her steps faltered.
From behind her, Shawn kept talking, “He's with Sue right now.”
That made her stop dead in her tracks. Shawn caught the change and a triumphant glint surfaced in his eyes.
"Didn't he mention it? Of course not. He wouldn't tell you he's with Sue."
Allison turned to face him, her gaze steady. "Shawn, did you call this way just to stir the pot with these
stories? Do you think I'll buy this?"
Shawn's smirk widened, clearly enjoying himself.
“I know you're skeptical.” He pulled out his phone and played a recording, “But listen to this first.”

“Please, just talk to me. Even if you're mad... Please don't leave. Don't go... | just... really need to see you. You're

Sue's voice was unmistakable.
The more Allison listened, the tighter her chest felt. Her fists clenched and knuckles paled; her eyes swirled with
mixed emotions.
Shawn leaned in slightly, locking eyes with her. “Joshua didn't tell you Sue was kidnapped over a month ago, did
he? You still think she's locked up, waiting for trial?"
"What are you talking about?" Allison's eyes widened, her voice tinged with disbelief.
Shawn was pleased with her reaction. It seemed like his guess was spot on. The Fisher family had indeed kept it
all under wraps, and Allison had been left in the dark

about Sue's disappearance
Shawn stood tall, his towering figure casting a long shadow over Allison. His presence was almost overwhelming.
With a touch of mockery, he added,
"Do you really think that after ten years of obsession, Joshua felt nothing for her? Allison, you're still
so naive. You don't understand men at all."
Allison lowered her gaze, silent and deep in thought.
Shawn pressed on, "On the day of your engagement, yes, Sue was taken by the police. But later, she claimed
to be pregnant. On the way to the hospital for a check-up, she was snatched away."
“Think about it, who in Oak Lake has the power to pull off a daylight kidnapping from the police?"
The answer was clear.
In the whole of Oak Lake, only the Fisher family reigned supreme.
