Chapter 169
Allison left the hospital and hurried straight to her law firm, diving into overtto organize the case materials
for London. She planned to take him to get his injury officially recognized as soon as the social security office
opened on Monday.
Her afternoon was so hectic that she completely forgot about her promise to meet Joshua that evening.
Joshua's call interrupted her while she was still buried in the case files. "Allie, where are you? I'll cpick you
up," he said.
“Huh?” Allison blinked, coming back to the moment. “Oh, | forgot to tell you, I'm pulling a late one at the office."
"Late? Weren't you supposed to be out shopping with Olivia and the crew?" Joshua sounded a bit confused.
Allison balanced the phone between her shoulder and ear as she typed away. “Nope, got hit with an urgent case,
so | had to rush back."
"Have you had dinner?" Joshua asked.
"Not yet."
"I'll cpick you up for dinner. You can wrap up work tomorrow. It's already getting late.”
Allison glanced at the clock on her computer. “Alright, I'm here at the office. Just swing by."

“Okay, hang tight. I'll be there in about twenty minutes."
"Mm-hmm."
After ending the call, Allison leaned back, staring at the case files on her screen, lost in thought. London's case
wasn't particularly tricky, and the odds were in their favor. But his employer's stubborn streak meant they
probably wouldn't hand over the compensation without a fight. This was a labor dispute, so the first step was
arbitration. If the employer wasn't satisfied, they could still take it to court. The legal process was tedious and
time-consuming, and although the outcseemed promising, London couldn't afford to wait around.
He needed the money for his treatment, and so did Peyton. Allison had covered smedical expenses today,
but it was just a drop in the bucket. The siblings were struggling even with their basic needs.
She rubbed her temples and called the head of a charity organization. Allison donated a million dollars, asking
them to prioritize helping London and Peyton. She also sent money to Joy, instructing her to hire a cook to take
care of their meals.
Joy called back, overwhelmed. "Two hundred grand! That's two hundred thousand dollars, Ms. Allison! Not two
thousand, not twenty thousand, but two hundred thousand!" Joy exclaimed. "You don't need nearly that much
just to hire a cook!"
Allison kept her voice steady. "Their
meals and the cook's salary will
cfrom this. I've also got the medical expenses covered. Use the rest for clothes, shoes, and other
necessities. Please take care of it."

Joy was nearly in tears. "Ms. Allison, you're so kind! Thank you on their behalf. Really, you're like an angel."
Allison felt a pang of sadness and sighed. "This is all | can do."
Joy quickly replied, "It's more than enough. You've done so much already!"
"| just hope it helps..."
Meanwhile, Joshua had been driving to the law firm for about five minutes when he got a call from the head of
his facility.
"Sir, something's happened to Sue!"
Joshua's brow furrowed and his voice turned cold. "What happened?"
Allison finished organizing the materials and shut down her

downstairs, it was already 8:30 PM.
She waited outside for a while before Joshua called her again.
Allison picked up. “Where are you?”
“Sorry, Allie, | can't cget you tonight. Something urgent cup."
Allison asked, “What's going on?"
"It's a bit complicated. I'll explain in person once I've handled it."
"Alright then."
After hanging up, Allison headed to the underground garage to get
car. She hadn't had dinner yet feet
