Chapter 147
"Sorry about that—I didn't mean to drop the wine glass. Letclean it up," Lillian said, crouching down to pick
up the shattered pieces.
Her low-cut dress was hard to ignore, and Joshua quickly turned his gaze elsewhere, already sounding impatient.
"Get up. Just head home."
As Lillian reached for the shards, she suddenly yelped. Her finger was cut, and bright red blood dripped onto the
floor.
She stood up shakily, looking up at him with a pitiful expression. "Joshua, | got cut by the glass. Can you take me
to the hospital?"
Joshua glanced at her wound, his face showing little concern. "There are band-aids and antiseptic at home. Just
take care of it yourself."
"Can't you taketo the hospital? It really hurts."
Joshua smirked, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "By the twe get there, it'll probably heal on its own."
The next morning, Emily couldn't get through to Joshua's phone, so she reached out to his assistant, John. "Is

John replied respectfully, "Ma'am, he just wrapped up a meeting."
"I need to speak with him."
Joshua glanced sideways at John. "Grandma?"
John nodded and handed him the phone.
Emily's voice was gentle, but firm. "Joshua, your sister's really sick. She's in the hospital. I'll send you the address
and room number. Find stto visit her, will you?"
"Grandma," Joshua replied coolly, "If she's sick, call a doctor. Why call me? | can't make her better."
Emily took a deep breath, keeping her tone steady. "Just this once. She's your sister, and visiting her in the
hospital isn't too much to ask, right?"
"Joshua, | know it's my fault at the family dinner, and | apologize. Lillian was really ill yesterday, and when | saw
her today... she looked so frail. It broke my heart. She misses you. Could you visit her, just for me?"
Hearing this, Joshua, who was usually strong-willed, relented. It was his grandmother, after all. He agreed to find
stto visit.
At the hospital, Joshua walked into the ward carrying the nourishing soup Emily had sent over.
Inside, Lillian lay in bed with an IV drip. Her face was pale, so she was clearly unwell.
Lillian's eyes light up with surprise. "You came!"
"Yeah." Joshua placed the thermos on the table. "What's going on with you? Is it serious?"
"It's the flu, and it's pretty bad. | haven't had much of an appetite and even threw up what little | ate."
"This is a nourishing soup Grandma had made for you," Joshua said, pointing to the thermos.
Lillian glanced at the thermos and
then back at Joshua. "My left hand is
on an ly, and my right hand got cut by the glass last night. It's inconvenient. Could you feedthe soup?"
Joshua's expression stayed cool. "Where's the nurse?"
"She stepped out."
Knowing Joshua was coming, Lillian had deliberately sent the nurse away.

Joshua nodded. "I'll call another nurse for you."
Lillian didn't want to push her luck, and didn't insist on him feeding her.

The request wasn't too much, and Joshua hesitated for a moment before agreeing.
"Let's go."
As they stepped out of the room, Lillian led the way. "Joshua, | knew you still cared. Even with your busy
schedule, you made tto visitand even brought soup. It makesso happy."
