Chapter 125
Allison had drifted off to sleep, her lips forming a playful pout as she clung to Joshua's shirt sleeve with a soft
murmur.
"Hey, are you awake?" Joshua leaned in a bit, his hands resting on either side of Allison. His eyes looked gentle
as he watched her.
"Sh......" Allison mumbled, her eyes still shut. Her lips barely moved as she whispered, "Sh..."
"What?" Joshua's brows furrowed slightly, his gaze as deep and dark as a midnight sky, with a flicker of
something sharp beneath.
Was she saying Shawn's name?
Even tipsy, she'd been babbling about his supposed shortcomings, but now she's calling her ex's name
Oh, right, he'd nearly forgotten why he went to the bar in the first place to settle things with her.
She hadn't even given him a shot, so how could she judge him as a man lacking in that area? Joshua's eyebrows
knitted together, a chill settling in his chest. What a little brat.

He stood up straight, his gaze fixed on Allison in a commanding yet tender way. "Is Shawn still on your mind?"
Even though she couldn't hear him, Joshua asked anyway. The air was thick with the scent of jealousy. "Allison,"
Joshua's voice was low, carrying a hint of teasing threat. "Think it over before you say anything..." The very next
moment, Allison's eyelashes fluttered, and she wriggled around on the bed, burying her face into the pillow. With
a playful tone, she mumbled, "Story, | want a story..."
Joshua was tunned.
A story? So she wasn't saying "Shawn," it was "story."
Joshua chuckled, the tension within him melting away.
He leaned in a little closer, his voice warm and indulgent. "Allie, let's get you cleaned up first, and then I'll tell
you a bedtstory, okay?"
Allie loved being tidy. If she woke up the next day still in yesterday's clothes, smelling like a bar, she'd definitely
be upset with herself.
The room was so quiet you could hear her gentle breathing. Allison was deep in sleep, unable to respond. After
waiting a few moments, Joshua sighed and headed to the bathroom to run a bath before returning to scoop
Allison up.
"Let's get you freshened up, then you can sleep all clean and cozy."
He gently undressed Allison and eased her into the bathtub.
As she felt the movement, Allison opened her eyes, her gaze unfocused. "Joshua..."
"Just relax, Allie."
Joshua moved with care, gently wetting her hair, working shampoo into his hands before massaging it into her
hair.
Allison leaned back in the tub, still groggy, but the warm water was coaxing her into relaxation. She let out a
contented sigh, enjoying Joshua's gentle care.
After the bath, Joshua dried Allison off, wrapping her snugly in a towel before carrying her to the bedroom to dry
her hair.
By the the finished, Allison was awake.
"Stay with me," she murmured, grabbing onto his shirt collar.

Joshua lowered his gaze, his voice soothing. "Alright, I'll stay right here with you."
"Tella story," Allison whispered softly.
Joshua, ever patient and obliging, nodded. "Sure."
He pulled out his phone, found a few bedtstories, and began to tell them in a soft, calming voice.
Gradually, Allison stopped fussing. Her hand, which had been clutching his shirt, relaxed and fell away. Joshua
had finally lulled Allison to sleep.
Initially, he planned to head out, but Alliso's tipsy and had no one to look after her, so he decided to stick around
for the night.
He didn't have his toiletries or a change of clothes.
Joshua called the Fisher family's staff to bring over sessentials and used Allison's bathroom to freshen up.
Allison slept soundly.
Joshua smiled tenderly, his gaze resting on her fair, beautiful face.
After watching her quietly for a few moments, Joshua walked over, tucked her in snugly, and placed a gentle kiss
on her forehead. "Goodnight."
