Chapter 117

Allison had just settled into her seat at the restaurant when Shawn strolled in and plopped down at the table

right next to hers.

A couple had just arrived at that table and were about to order. Shawn walked over to them and asked, "Mind if |

take your table? I'm willing to pay for it."

The couple exchanged looks. The woman asked, "How much are you offering?"

Shawn replied, "What about five hundred bucks?"

The girl's eyes widened a bit, "Are you serious?"

"Absolutely." Shawn whipped out his phone, "Just showyour Venmo details, and I'll transfer the cash right

now."

The girl's eyes lit up, and she quickly showed him the code. Once the money was in, she happily dragged her

boyfriend away.

Shawn shot a grin at Allison from the adjacent table, pulled out a chair, and casually poured himself a cup of

coffee.

Nearby, Jayden was completely floored. Was this really happening?

He glanced between Allison and Shawn, eventually deciding to join Shawn at his table, sitting across from him.

Allison loved several of the restaurant's signature dishes. Shawn had deliberately chosen the table next to hers

to get under her skin; if this were in the past when she still cared about him, she wouldn't have been able to

enjoy her meal.

However, things were different now. She was over him. She could treat Shawn like he didn't even exist.

Allison placed her order, including a chilled drink. When the drink arrived, Shawn suddenly chimed in, "You

shouldn't have cold drinks."

Allison internally rolled her eyes, took a couple of sips, and smiled contentedly. Turning to Joshua, who was sitting

across from her, she said, "It's been ages since | last had this. Tastes just like | remember. Joshua, want a sip?"

Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Joshua, her face all sweet smiles, creating an atmosphere so sweet it seemed

to fill the air.

Joshua took the glass and sipped from the sstraw Allison used. Their actions and expressions were so

natural. There was no sense of pretense.

Jayden watched the scene unfold and got the picture. Allison and Joshua were always like this; their bond was

genuine, not sact.

But Shawn...

Jayden snuck a glance at Shawn sitting across from him. Shawn's jaw was tense. His eyes were glued to Allison

with a mix of anger and hurt in his gaze. Allison didn't even give him a second look.

Shawn's grip on his coffee cup was so tight that Jayden worried it might shatter any second.

Jayden sighed inwardly. “Why put yourself through this, man?*

"Have you ordered yet?" Jayden tried to shift Shawn's focus.

Shawn seemed oblivious, still staring at Allison, not responding.

Jayden shook his head in resignation and used his phone to order. Meanwhile, Allison's dishes arrived. Shawn

noticed the seafood on her table and frowned. "Aren't you allergic to seafood? Why did you order it?" Allison

acted like she didn't hear him, savoring the shrimp Joshua had peeled for her, and dipping it in sauce. Jayden

coughed awkwardly and cautiously said, "Shawn, perhaps..... | mean... just maybe Allison isn't actually allergic to

seafood? She just avoided it because you are allergic?"

Shawn's head snapped around. "What did you say?"

Jayden repeated, "Allison isn't allergic to seafood. She just didn't order it when she was with you because you are

allergic."

"How do you know?"

"I once saw her having lunch with colleagues, and the table was full of seafood..."

Shawn pressed his lips into a thin line, disbelief flickering in his eyes. "Really?" Jayden shrugged, "Why would |

lie?"

A mixed feeling washed over Shawn. He realized he never knew Allison!

He watched Allison as she happily ate a piece of crab leg, her eyes crinkling with her smile. "I got another

favorable verdict yesterday. That case was so complex. It had over five hundred pages of evidence."

Joshua listened patiently, peeling another shrimp for her, his expression gentle. "What type of case was it?"
