Chapter 116
The two of them were chatting and laughing, clearly comfortable with each other. Shawn mumbled to himself,
"He got out of the hospital already? Must be one tough guy."
Jayden guessed the man must be Allison's fiancé. Shawn stepped out of the car and walked over to Allison.
It had been a week since Joshua was released from the hospital. During that time, Allison kept him on a strict
bland diet. At first, it was manageable, but having the splain meals day in and day out was starting to wear
on him. After much pleading, Allison finally agreed to spice things up a bit and take him out for a proper meal
today.
She took him to a renowned restaurant right in the bustling heart of the city, a place in Oak Lake they'd been
frequenting since they were kids. It was peak dinner time, and the place was packed, with a line of people

Allison had wisely made a reservation ahead of time. As she confirmed the appointment at the entrance and was
about to follow the host inside, she heard someone call her name.
"Allison!" Jayden called out.
Turning around, Allison first noticed Jayden, then saw Shawn standing next to him. Her brow furrowed. Why was
he also here? He was like a pesky shadow that wouldn't go away.
Shawn and Jayden approached them. Jayden greeted her, "Hey, Allison! Long tno see. | didn't know you were
from Oak Lake. How cyou never mentioned it before?"
Just a few days ago, Jayden had only heard from Shawn that Allison was from Oak Lake and was about to get
engaged. He didn't know much beyond that. He wasn't aware that she was the heiress to the Owens family, nor
that the man beside her was the CEO of Fisher Corporation.
Kate and Cindy had made fools of themselves at the Hartley family gala by falsely accusing Allison of theft and
getting tossed out by security. It was such a humiliating scene that they couldn't keep it to themselves fast
enough, let alone spread the word.
So, their circle was still in the dark about Allison's family background. Jayden was one of the few in Shawn's
crowd with his head on straight. He never looked down on "poor Allison." Sometimes, he even lent her a hand.
Because of this, Allison always had a good impression of him and greeted him politely. Allison nodded slightly
and replied, “It's been a while.”
"And who's this?" Jayden asked, playing coy.
Allison smiled, introducing, "This is my fiancé, Joshua."

“Joshua!” Jayden repeated, eyes wide in disbelief. "You're... Joshua Fisher?”
He'd never met Joshua in person, nor seen any interviews or reports about him online. But the nitself was
almost legendary. Everyone in their social circle knew it. He was Joshua, the king of Oak Lake!
Joshua stood there with a frosty expression and jaw clenched. His stare was as piercing as a knife aimed right at
Shawn as if preparing to dismantle him. "What do you want?"
Jayden shivered slightly. Joshua's presence was just overwhelming. No wonder he was famous. The natural
authority and charisma he exuded were beyond anything any spoiled rich kids could hope to imitate.
Jayden rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "Mind if | tag along for dinner?"
Allison was starving, having only managed a quick bite earlier. Right now, she was eager to get inside and order.
“Sure, you can, but he can't," she said, nodding toward Shawn.
Shawn's expression shifted, a mix of emotions playing across his face.
