Joshua thought for a moment. "If | had to pick a time, it was probably back in high school. Remember when

David was bothering you? | stood up to him, and that's when it hit me—my feelings for you were different."

Allison gave a playful pout. "You hid it pretty well."

Joshua affectionately ruffled her hair. "I had to wait for you to grow up."

A touch of sadness clouded his eyes. "After you graduated college, | went to your dad to propose. But you

weren't on board and ended up leaving home."

Feeling a bit guilty, Allison looked away, mumbling, "I... | thought my dad was just usingfor business |

deals. How was | supposed to know you had it all planned? You never told me."

Joshua suddenly put on a tic expression. "Ouch, my wound really hurts."

Allison panicked and quickly checked his side. "What happened? Did you bump it? Letcall a nurse."

Joshua swiftly pulled her into a hug, resting his chin on her head. His voice was soft and soothing. "A hug will fix

it."

Allison laughed, "You're just teasing me."

"No," Joshua whispered, gently stroking her silky hair. "It really hurts. Be a sweetheart and lethold you— it'll

make it all better."

Allison nestled her head against Joshua's chest, taking in his comforting presence.

Shawn was making his way through the hotel lobby after a business dinner when a voice stopped him.

"Shawn."

When he turned around, he found himself facing a young woman he didn't recognize.

Dressed head-to-toe in designer labels, she looked like she stepped out of a fashion magazine.

"And you are?" Shawn asked, his confusion evident as he approached her. "Do we know each other?"

The woman leaned back on the sofa, giving him a sly smile. "We will soon."

Shawn sat down across from her. "So, who are you?"

She smiled, "Lillian, the adopted daughter of the Fisher family."

"The Fisher family?" Shawn raised an eyebrow, "Joshua's family?"

"Exactly." Lillian grinned. "Interested in teaming up with me?"

Shawn was intrigued but cautious. "What kind of team-up?"

She handed him a business card. "I know you're looking for investment for the Reynolds Group. Reach out to this

contact, and they'll fund your company."

"But....." Lillian added, "The catch is, you have to helpsplit Joshua and Allison."

Shawn glanced at the card. "Even without your investment, I'd do whatever it takes to break them up. Allison is

meant for me!"

Lillian's smile widened. "So, do we have a deal?"

Shawn thought for a moment. "Letverify your identity first, and then I'll get back to you."

"Of course," Lillian said, showing her contact info. "Addso we can keep in touch."
