Chapter 109
Allison had been a bundle of nerves all afternoon, but now that Joshua was out of the woods, she was
determined to see him. After all, he had taken that knife for her.
"Listen here! Chwith me!" Javier demanded in a tone that brooked no argument.
Allison stood her ground, her eyes resolute. “Dad, | know you're upset, but | can't leave just yet. Joshua put his
life on the line for me, and there's no way I'm not going to be there for him. If he wakes up and doesn't see me,
it'll break his heart."
Ray felt a wave of relief wash over him and turned to Javier. "Javier, my wife spoke out of line earlier. I'm truly
sorry. Don't let it bother you."
Ben chimed in, “Yeah, Joshua would want to see Allison first thing when he wakes up."
Rose added, "Let's not dwell on this. It's wonderful that the kids are so committed to each other."

When Ray offered a heartfelt apology, Javier couldn't keep pushing the issue.
While Emily could be a handful, the rest of the Fisher clan seemed reasonable enough.
He paused, then nodded toward Allison. "Alright, you can stay. I'll head hand check on your sister."
After Javier left, Allison was quick to apologize again for acting on impulse.
Rose sighed, pulling Allison's hand into theirs. "Sweetheart, don't beat yourself up about this. None of this is on
you. | know you'd never want Joshua to get hurt. This is really on us like your dad said."
Tears pooled in Allison's eyes. "I need to see Joshua."
Rose squeezed her hand. "Let's go see him together."
When Joshua finally opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Allison's worried face hovering over him. Allison's
heart leapt, and she couldn't hold back her tears. “Joshua, thank goodness you're awake." Joshua managed a
faint smile. He said in a soft voice. “Hey now, no tears. I'm not going anywhere.”
Rose, standing nearby, dabbed at her eyes. "You scared the life out of me. I'm just so relieved you're okay. If
anything had happened to you, | wouldn't know what to do."
Ben frowned, clicking his tongue. "Let's not talk like that, okay?"
Allison's tears kept coming, and seeing her like that broke Joshua's heart. He tried to reach out to wipe her tears
but struggled with the effort.
Allison quickly took his hand. "Joshua..."
“Allie, don't cry," Joshua said, a gentle smile playing on his lips despite his pale complexion. “As long as you're
okay, nothing else matters."
"No, it shouldn't be like that." Allison wiped her tears and sniffled. "We both need to be okay."
"How's Lizzy?" Joshua asked again.

Allison's eyes were still red from crying. “Lizzy's fine, she's safe and sound.”
"That's a relief."
Rose said, “You cso close to losing your life. Take care of yourself before worrying about everyone else.
Focus on getting better. We'll handle everything else."
"Mom, Dad, could you give Allie anda little privacy?" Joshua asked weakly.
Rose and Ben understood, nodded, and quietly left the room.
Joshua turned to Allison, his eyes full of concern. "Allie, they didn't make things hard for you, did they?"
Allison shook her head, her heart a whirl of emotions.
Even in his condition, Joshua was worried about her facing trouble.
She fought back her tears and managed a smile. "Joshua, you have to get better soon. We still have an
engagement party to plan, remember?"
