Chapter 1400
Quincy didn't bother looking back. His fury poured into every punch aimed at Eugene's face. "If you have a
problem with me, fine. But why hurt Lydia? Are you even a man?"
A man's fists should be used to protect women, not to terrorize them.
He had originally planned to follow Lydia for a few days, observe Eugene, and see if Eugene was truly someone
who could make her happy.
If so, Quincy was willing to step back. But now, seeing what Eugene had done, he realized just how wrong he had
been. If he hadn't arrived in time, Lydia would have been at Eugene's mercy. No amount of punches felt like
enough. After watching for a moment, Lydia finally called his name. "Quincy, step aside."
Eugene looked up suddenly. Blood was already trickling from the corner of Eugene's mouth, but he managed a

This is just a little *marital fun* between us." Quincy couldn't hold back a curse. "Marital fun" happens behind
closed doors. This is outright abuse."
But what hurt Quincy most was Lydia's reaction. He lowered his fists, though he still kept a firm grip on Eugene's
collar.
Looking back at Lydia, his voice softened with desperation. "He's no good for you. Please, don't stay with him."
"Let go of him and step aside," Lydia instructed, not wanting Quincy to accidentally get hurt. "And close your
eyes."
Eugene's grin grew wider, his expression full of smug satisfaction. "Women love a bit of a bad guy," he thought,
convinced it was an unchanging truth.
The happier Eugene looked, the more Quincy's heart ached. Whenever Lydia showed the
slightest sign of distress, Quincet
was ready to rush in and protect her. But what could he do if she didn't resist?
Just like Eugene claimed, maybe this was their "marital fun," and who was he to interfere?
Though his heart was filled with reluctance and helplessness, Quincy could only do as Lydia asked. He closed his
eyes, swallowing down the bitterness.
But instead of helping Eugene up, Lydia pulled out her pepper spray, flipped off the cap, and sprayed it directly
into his face.
"Ahhh!" Eugene's screams filled the alley, echoing like a wounded animal.
A few stray dogs at the alley's entrance scattered in fear.

Think again! And don't even think this is over. I'm pressing charges!"

"Lydia?" Quincy opened his eyes at the sound.
He saw Lydia, furious, while Eugene was writhing on the ground, wailing in agony.
"| had pepper spray in my bag. It would've been a waste not to use it." Lydia shook the little bottle in her hand.
"Thanks for stepping in."
"There's no need for thanks between us," Quincy replied, unable to hold back a grin, his smile stretching wide.
He felt like he had just been lifted from rock bottom to cloud nine.
"You're hurt. Lettake you to the hospital. And before we go, let's call the police. He's going to pay for this."
Lydia noticed a long scratch on Quincy's arm. It was an injury from his scuffle with Eugene.
