"Yes!" Serena, unknowingly falling into the trance, blurted out. Her emotions shifted, and bitterness seeped into
her voice. "You're right! Everything was mine to begin with.
"Evangeline stole it from me! Father always said she was unworthy of being Empress. The throne was meant to
be mine. But after he was gone, she shamelessly coveted what wasn't
hers.
"If it doesn't belong to her, | have every right to take it back. Everything I've done was to reclaim what's
rightfully mine. How is that wrong?"
Even though Evangeline had suspected the truth for a long time, hearing Serena admit it aloud still stung deeply.
"All these years, | thought you truly cared for me. But in your heart, you're just like Father. You've never truly
seenas your equal!"
As a child, Evangeline would always envy how much their father adored Serena.
She didn't understand why, as his daughters, he cherished Serena so deeply yet despised her so much.
